Wings of Nails

Spare me the senseless rhymes of loves dysected,
but never felt.
Of loves worn in linens not on bare bones.
Carnal circus menageries photosynthesized in milk and honey.
Manufactured apathy tinted with faux tears of suffering
Martyrised blood architecting palaces for lies,
Hope rotting in the gallows of stenciled treachery.
Lets guillotine the Angel and not let him back in heaven,
lets cut his legs of and watch him crawl in linear circles,
with his eyes gouged out and his mouth filled with tar.
Lets tie his hands with his own ripped out veins
and leave his heart to the mercy of the crow.
His soul will love you with all that emmanates and stays hidden,
it will not know why, but it will want to please you,
it will want to weep for you,
it will want to carry you over the river,
to follow you, listening to a music so beautiful
he would never be sure it indeed exists,
an untouchable tune of a cloud raining down bloom.
Blind, decapitated, silenced
with nothing but a feeling he cannot reason with
lulled inside a heartbeat.
Spare me.
Your asinine sonnets of courting
nameless demons of your own creation.
Of parfumed loves
laureled with handpicked flowers bought for a dime.
Sheets ruffled into banquets for the lost and the lonely.
Gloom tinted in hues of stars and hung above the dream like a noose.
Chiseled suffering bathing in a vine of profound envy.
Spare me,
for I have been the Angel.

  1. I haven’t read such a powerful piece in a long time!

    Great work!

  2. Hej, ovo je zaista sjajno…!

your words…..they resonate, i want to read them again and again…..

  4. Your language in this poem is startlingly beautiful. “Carnal circus menageries photosynthesized in milk and honey” will be an image that lingers in my imagination all day. Abstract and difficult, but beautiful nonetheless.

    • Believe it or not, that is actually the sentence that started the crafting of this poem, I felt it is very heavy aswell,so much that I simply had to write it down for it not to plague my mind so much. Thank you for visiting, reading and taking time to leave a comment, I really appriciate it a lot. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • It was my pleasure. You work is multifaceted, and isn’t easily digested — I will be lingering over your work again, count on it.

  5. Wow. I am quite sure I’ve used that 3-letter-word quite a few times for your poetry… this is yet another exquisite piece by you. What else can I say? ๐Ÿ™‚ This line is especially amazing: “Carnal circus menageries photosynthesized in milk and honey.”

    • ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you very much! You do not know how refreshing it is and delightfull to write and be heard, just as you are, just like you spoke, be understood. I do wish one day I can return to the allegory of the pastel star, like your poems are ๐Ÿ™‚
